George Francis Marti, born in Zurich in 1993, began to play music at a very early age, inventing stories and recording them with his own music. Then he took trombone lessons and learned to improvise at the music school of Zug in 2000.
‘When listening to music, I concentrate on the tone, the sound, I observe the vibrations, the power in expression, the presence. Then I search the background and I’m looking for the whole thing. And I am always surprised, what I can find.’
George began his studies in Lucerne, then received a scholarship from the Berklee College of Music in Boston and later another one from Berklee Valencia, where he completed his first Master’s degreein Contemporary Performance with Cum Laude. Soon after he completed his second Master in Music Pedagogy at Zurich University of the Arts and won the Hirschmann scholarship for excellent performance and social engagement.
‘Believing in the incredible potential of every learner is essential. When we trust each other, we can achieve greatness. By focusing on the unique strengths and possibilities, we empower young people to grow, thrive and shine. My goal is to ignite a spark of love and passion for learning to play and perform music, creating a setting filled with enthusiasm, inspiration and opportunities.`
Today George is teaching at the Musikschule Zug, he is working for the Reformed Church of Zug as well as the CityKircheZug. Of course you can also find him teaching in his Music Atelier in the old town, where he prepares projects and jams for his various bands.
